Helpful Cleaning Steps for your home
Cleaning your house regardless of the season or the degree of effort you have already done is always challenging. Here are some helpful steps to clean your house completely and effectively.
- Declutter to ease the cleaning process. Look for a new place for items or remove anything visible that does not belong in the room.
- Start cleaning in the large and hard-to-reach surfaces from the ceiling, to walls, the rest of the trim, and then the baseboards.
- Clean the Windows.
- Wipe remaining hard surfaces such as wood furniture, shelves, built-ins, etc. with the use of beeswax-based wood cleaner or petroleum distillate-free.
- Refresh your floors by moving all big furniture first like bed and sofas. To remove dirt in corners and baseboards, use your vacuum’s crevice device or clean it using a microfiber mop and a recommended cleaner if you have a hard floor.
For your bedroom, start the cleaning by washing the duvet cover, bed skirt, pillows and shams and give them additional spin cycle for quicker drying. For your comforters, hit the Laundromat with one of the extra-big front-loaders. If your mattress has seen better days, sprinkle baking soda on the mattress. Allow it to sit for an hour and vacuum it up with the hose attachment.
Polish your cabinets by wiping the exposed tops, then place newspapers that fit them to collect dust. Replace the paper every now and then. Using wood cleaner, wipe the doors in front and back. When your fridge, stove or dishwasher is empty, wipe it down both inside and out. Make the countertops tidy by removing all items. Clean and dry them then return what you only use every day.
Wash your shower curtain by setting the dryer on low. Remove and rehang curtain before it’s thoroughly dry. To treat water spots and soap residue, apply heated distilled white vinegar and wipe it on the doors. Reinforce by scrubbing with baking soda and a non-scratch pad. You can find any of these cleaning tools in any plumbing shop in Australia.
