First, start lifting the stopper lever up to the closed position. Then, unscrew the retaining nut which holds the pivot rod in position and pull the pivot rod out of the drain pipe in order to release the stopper. You can find most of the degree in and around the stopper. Clean the area using a small wire brush.

A probing tool or also known as a grabbing tool can be a good tool to use to stick down the drain to remove the clog. You can find this tool in any Plumbing Supplies store in Australia.

Clear a Clog under the Sink

If the clog still persists, you need to go below the sink and clean the sink drain trap. Prepare the following for this step: a bucket, a small wire brush and channel type pliers which you can purchase from any plumbing services store in Sydney. The first thing to do is to place the bucket under the trap to catch debris and water. Using the channel-type pliers loosen the slip nuts on the trap bend. Then unscrew the nuts with your hand and get them away from the connectors. Then by using a small wire brush, remove the pipe and clean out all the debris and rinse with water. Put back the trap bend in its original place and tighten the slip nuts using the channel-type pliers thoroughly.

In order to protect pipes from scrapes, just place duct tape on the end of wrench before you use it on pipes.

Clear a Plunger-type Drain

In case of a plunger-type drain, have the screws removed on the cover plate. Remove the cover plate carefully and all the apparatus from the opening of the overflow drain. Using a small wire brush, clean all debris from the links and also the plunger pieces of hardware. After the cleaning of debris, lubricate the pieces using heatproof grease.

Tiles can add value to a bathroom! And with their hygienic and water resistant properties, are a popular choice for any wet area. There are various unique finishes on offer that can’t be matched by other materials. Whether it is ceramic, porcelain, travertine or slate, bathrooms can accommodate all types of tiles.

Here are some tips to help you narrow down your choices and find out which is the right tile for your bathroom:

Hygiene

With their fresh appearance and easy wipe surfaces, tiles offer a great hygienic solution to a bathroom. While tiles are water-resistant, they are not totally waterproof. Before tiling, you can waterproof the shower area with a waterproofing kit to prevent any potential water damage to the walls behind the tiling. Also, if you opt for natural stone tiles for your bathroom, make sure that they are sealed with the recommended maintenance products prior to fixing to prevent water damage/staining.

Tile size for my bathroom

Typically, it is advised to avoid using large bathroom tiles such as 60x30cm in a small bathroom, as it will make the room significantly smaller. But if most of the tiles can be applied without any cuts, the result can be impressive.

With small tiles like 10x10cm, its several grout lines can sometimes look unattractive. For many people, medium sized tiles such as 40x20cm are a common choice for either large or small bathrooms today.

Using tiles to make a small bathroom look bigger

One way to make small bathrooms look bigger is to use light colored bathroom tiles such as white or cream. They reflect the light more as compared to darker colors, giving an airy and spacious feel to your bathroom. Another way is to use the same color wall tiles as the floor tiles.

When you’re shopping for tiles for your bathroom, try to visit a trustworthy plumbing shop in Australia. Check out the various choices and find out which one suits your bathroom.
